CLEAR OBJECTIVES




Mission

The Librarys mission is set out in the government's Finanslov § 21.31.23:

The Danish Art Library (DKB) is the nation's principal special library for architecture, art and the history of art.

It functions as a special library for the schools of the Danish Academy of Arts, university institutes of art history as well as the architecture museum, the archive and study collection for practising architects, public authorities and Danish and foreign architecture scholars.

In addition the Library is the documentation centre for Danish art and carries out research into architecture and art.



Vision

· to consolidate and expand the Library's collections, registration and dissemination of literature and data dealing with art, architecture and the history of art

· to consolidate and expand promotion of the library via the Internet

· to reinforce the Library's position as a research institution, especially within the fields of Danish art and architecture

· to reinforce and expand the virtual and concrete collaboration with other art libraries

All newly printed periodicals shall be available for borrowing 3 days after they are received from the supplier

The reading room is to be open during the hours advertised

The opening hours of the Library’s study collections will be extended in 2006 from 20 h/w to 31 h/w, so that there are uniform opening hours in all the institution’s departments
